The Salmon River Run

This is the WWA's annual adventure up the Salmon River into the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness.  The event is held on the Thursday and Friday after the second weekend in April.  Camping and launching is at Spring Bar campground 14 miles east of Riggins, Idaho.  Thursday is set aside as a practice day, Friday is the "official" run date.  Friday night features the Dutch Oven Dessert Extravaganza, where participants demonstrate their prowess with a "dutch".  This run is always a popular event and presents a wonderful opportunity to experience exciting whitewater, breath-taking scenery, and not-often-seen wildlife.

This is the longest and arguably the most technical run on WWA’s annual schedule.  Participants travel 40 miles up river and climb five Class III+ rapids and dozens of smaller ones.
