2007 Hells Canyon Confluence Run

The trip over the mountain to Pittsburg Landing revealed markings of the fire from a month ago. Some areas were TOAST; like ground zero. Some were burned but the trees should survive. There were even signs of green grass already growing out of the burned ground.

The campground was quieter than usual with people arriving later in the week than last year. Thursday night there were camping sites still open. Of Course you would have have been there, but, we won't let the occupants of "space 14" ever forget the 2007' run. Maybe the deserve a commemorative T-shirt. "What do you think, Dan?"

The Saturday morning "boat rodeo" went exceptionally smooth. In fact, it went so smooth it was scary! We counted 38 boats and 108 people all launched by 10:00am. The weather for the run was near perfect in the mid 90'. As far as we heard, there were only a few minor rock incidents. (We respectfully won't mention names!!) Just know that gravel bars and boat bottoms don't mix. We had only two newbies this year. They made good students of the great leaders who taught them the river.

And once again, Jim did an awesome job on the dinner. The steaks were big and the most tender we've ever eaten. The corn was sweet. Side dishes brought by club members were plentiful and delicious. And who could resist the deserts?

Hope to see you next year,

Bruce and Patti
