2004 Chili Run

The Western Whitewater Association hosts an annual Chili Run in late February on the Snake River below Swan Falls Dam.

Sunday, February 29 was the big day for the 2004 contest and run.  There was a slight breeze, but for the most part the sun was out and it was a very mild winter day.  The river was running a little over 8,000 cfs and forty-seven boats navigated "Suicide Bend", "Grave Yard", "Pump House Rock", and "Ranch House Rapids" with only a few minor skirmishes with submerged objects along the way.  And the chili entries - they were absolutely outstanding and, as always, the highlight of the event.
